Corrections for Fairfax News Article
Response to the news article appearing in fairfax media.
I am writing in response to the "Carbon cowboys" articles appearing in fairfax media news papers and online articles. By Patrick Bodenham and Ben Cubby
http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/carbon-cowboys-20110722-1hssc.html
The following paragraph is incorrect. The person David Nilsson "fell
out" with is Cecille Villanueva. This can been seen in this article http://www.redd-monitor.org/2011/05/03/aidesep-and-coica-condemn-and-reject-carbon-cowboy-david-nilsson-and-demand-his-expulsion-from-peru/
>Some time after the Nauru scandal,
>Nilsson became interested in carbon
>offsets. He visited the Philippines and
>Malaysia to try and secure deals with
>tribal groups to use their forests as
>carbon sinks. But a project in the
>Philippines went astray when he fell out
>with Dr Carly Green, an Australian expert
>on carbon offsetting. Her agreement with
>Nilsson's company was dissolved.
The following paragraph is also not true.
>Nilsson said the national commissioner
>of indigenous people in the Philippines
>sent out an email telling indigenous
>people not to deal with him or Green, so
>no carbon offsetting took place.
No e-mail has ever been sent which instructs not to deal with Dr Carly Green. The original authors have not provided any evidence of this email.
